New year, new steps to take.... After 4,5 years working as a consultant, my time at Etteplan Sweden has come to an end. I am so grateful for these years with incredible assignments and incredible colleagues. I had a break from my career for 1,5 year… Or that’s what most people think when I had a pause on my career to take care of what is the most important in life, my kids and family. I’ve already been back to work for two weeks and I’ve change my mini team at home for new adventures outside home. 🎉 I truly enjoyed my time being a mom and I don’t consider this a ‘break’ from my career but a great learning experience to grow on my leadership skills 😅 I have developed skills such as conflict resolution, planning, logistics, risk assessment and so on. 😆 For some, this may look like a stop on my career but I believe that my time at home taking care of my three kids is my greatest achievements and most important job of all. #workingmom #momengineer #grateful #engineer

Last day at Volvo Cars What an incredible experience it’s been to be part of a leading company. I’ve learnt so much, I’ve growth so much, I’ve failed and learnt from it, I have met increíble people and the list could go on. It’s been a really rewarding journey and I’m thankful for the amazing opportunity I had to be part of a company I dreamt being part of. I did unexpected things - like being part of making a movie (first pic) I met incredible women leaders - by being part of the Female Leaders CoP of Volvo Cars (third and fourth pic) We had some fun and interesting lunch with some of the Latinos at Volvo (fifth pic) I was part of great milestones from our team (last pic) and so on. These last 8 months I’ve stretched myself in many different ways and now I’m ready to have some time off to prepare for the arrival of our third baby. Thank you everyone who was part of this journey ❤️🙌🏼

Diversity I saw this post and I could relate so much with it. We often talk about diversity but personally I have experience that there is so much more to learn about this topic. I like sharing my experience as a foreign hoping that it will inspire you. Empathy is so crucial to have a diverse team. Sometimes I ask people to repeat things more than twice (and when you look at their faces you just want to give up) not because I’m stupid or a child, but because certain conversations take more time for me to process. Some days at the end of the day I’m just so tired of speaking another language that I mix them so much and I don’t speak properly. Having emphatic to foreign people does not require so much but it makes such a big difference in the every day work life. #experience #language #empathy Now that we are having more and more foreign people in our workplaces, let’s meet them where they are, not trying to change them but including them in the conversations, yes, even the small talks in the coffe machine makes the difference. I’ve met so many foreign coworkers that feel excluded when they don’t speak their language with the excuse that the majority understands the native language. Being an immigrant really sucks! I heard that from so many people when I arrived here in Sweden. I will tell you my experience… In March 15 years ago I moved to Sweden. I had nothing. I had only a lot of dreams. I applied to get into high school and I got rejected because of my age (but now I understand that I could have been admitted anyway). I went to an adults school to learn Swedish and study once again all the courses I did back in my country. I couldn’t make any friends because they were all adults and I was just a 18 year old girl without any language or experience whatsoever. I studied Swedish and extra courses for almost 3 years meanwhile I was applying to universities but I always got rejected. I was so frustrated seeing all my friends back in my country already studying or graduating from what they wanted and I felt stuck. After 3 years I finally got accepted into the program I apply for. It was in English tho because I didn’t have enough Swedish to be accepted into the Swedish programs. I was so happy. Finally doing what I wanted to study. I applied for jobs while studying and I got a few extra jobs in restaurants, in factories, cleaning, etc. I remember a couple of times I sat with people and I told them I was doing a degree. They were amazed and someone once told me ‘why bother if you are an immigrant’ as if that’s what we need to be doing forever. I then moved to Australia to pursue a dream in my heart and when I returned back, it was so hard to find a job in what I studied. I felt stuck again. Didn’t want to be here to be honest. Then I decided I needed to do something so I got accepted to do my masters in a dream university. I applied for so many jobs and I got rejected from so many….. It’s been quite a journey (3+3+2+2 years of studies, 2 maternity, 3 working) and it continue to be. I may not have 10 years of experience in one industry. I may not have the top position as many of my friend back home already have. I may not be a senior in anything yet. But my life experiences and all I’ve lived to be where I am, I wouldn’t change it for anything. Some people told me being an immigrant sucks - I can say that being an immigrant has been the most rewarding yet challenging journey I’ve been in. Bye 2021 This year has been a hard one for many people, including myself. There has also been moments of joy and accomplishment along the way. I felt really blessed to be able to start a new job in a dream company after being in maternity leave for one year. I have loved being at home with my kids but also going back to work. I have also felt so much joy with the community I have created in IG where we have grown rapidly this year and people have shared their lives with me so open. There are many things that have brought me joy and happiness. But the last semester has been a tough one, I’ve felt so behind in many of the dreams I have in my heart, I’ve felt behind in my career, etc. I have felt so behind in compare to ‘others’. On top of that I’ve had to deal with some personal issues from my childhood. Why I’m telling you this? - well, everything may seem great in a post but the behind the scenes are not always as pretty. We are all a work in progress and what matter the most is not the status or place you want to be, but the better person you are becoming in the process. Hence next year, I want to become a better version of myself in order to give the best of me to my dreams and opportunities ahead ❤️
